The café runs on a first come first serve waiting list.  We are a small restaurant with 11
tables.  This makes it a wonderful atmosphere to dine in, but makes taking reservations
not an option.  We have taken every step to make you as comfortable as possible if there
is a wait.
  • No Reservations Accepted
  • We ask that your entire party be present to be seated (regardless if there is a wait)
  • We have our Next Door Lounge where you can get drinks and appetizers.
  • The restaurant will call for you in the lounge when your table becomes available.
If you choose to leave the building make sure you are back early as your name will be passed
over if you are not present when called.
  • Only one check per party
  • Gift Certificates are available.
  • We are happy to accept

Mmm! Mmm! Good Baby!!!Posted by hotgritsnobutter on 11/06/2008

I ate here for a business lunch on Monday, October 27th. I don't know about you but for some reason, I
usually can't even taste my food during business lunches. I'm so busy trying to either make my point or
get "theirs" that I don't typically enjoy the meal. My taste buds just always seemed to be paralyzed. But
this time, I want to tell you, that was not the case. I couldn't have been more pleased. I had the Crab
Cake Sandwich and Almond and Nectarine salad with a half order (bit the way... Huge which isn't a bad
thing) of the Black Bean Soup with Chorizo. One bite of each and oh baby!!! I'm from, Louisiana and as
we say down there, "laissez le bon temps roulez"!!! That Black Bean soup was the best I've ever had. It
was a rich and flavorful perfection of black beans and other secret seasonings and the sausage was a
passionate explosion of crispy fried delight. It was all topped off with their own creative salsa like garnish
of tomatoes, cucumber, and other things with sour cream. The crab cake sandwich and salad was to be
slowly inhaled and savored before committing it to the oh so sweet memory file. I'm not kidding you
people, I'm actually looking forward to the next time I have to get out that way so I can eat there again.
For a great meal at a fair price in a very pleasant atmosphere, try the CD Cafe.

Having avoided most things nautical in an area proud of its maritime history, I opted to dine at a spot
whose name eschewed seafaring. The CD Café, a bright, cramped space on the main drag, serves
innovative chow; even the desserts, like Oreo creme brulee, offer a twist on old faves.  You can't
completely divorce yourself from the water when you're in Solomons, though. The crab-cake sandwich
special ($14.95) tasted so fresh I think the boat hauling in its components woke me up a few hours
earlier.

On a recent visit to Solomons, Maryland, I enjoyed two memorable meals at the CD Café. It's very popular with the locals,
enough so that it thrives even in the off-season. The menu includes some standard dishes (e.g. crab cakes) as well as some
delicious, unusual combinations like sea bass with melon, which was particularly good. Everything we had at both meals was
tasty (and affordable compared to Washington DC prices). Service was good and friendly, even on a very busy Saturday night.
this café is awesome!! I've always had excellent, friendly service....great, great food, beautiful atmosphere.....love the Bontera
wine.....hope they keep up the good work....pat LaPlata, MD

I've been going to the DC café for several years. Usually about every three or four months. I've never experienced anything
negative-except for the fact that at times they are very walnut friendly and I'm allergic to walnuts. They are very
accommodating however. If I see something that has walnuts I ask, and they kindly remove them-if possible. Sometimes I
have to pass on the dish because of the inability to remove the walnuts.  They always have new and fresh menu specials and
are always very tempting. The Steak Au Puave is awesome! It's my favorite and I try to get it at leas twice a year! The
specials ALWAYS tempt me away from it though.  The service is very friendly and fast. There could be a long wait if you decide
to go at the last minute. This place only has about 11 tables and your wait could be up to an hour if you arrive even five
minutes after they open. The best thing to do is get there 20 minutes before they open at 5:30, or plan on getting there
around 6:15 and every 45 minute increment afterwards. It's totally worth it if you can go next door to their small lounge and
have an appetizer and possibly a drink while you are signed up for a table. Just tell the bartender that you're waiting when
you arrive and they will call you when your table is ready.  The dessert menu is always incredible. I default to one form or
another of their creme' brulee. They always spice it up with different things. Awesome!  They serve a very good espresso to
go with dessert and it is freshly ground.

I have ate three different times at the CD Café over 3 years. Each time the food and service was excellent! If you do not have
a reservation, you can experience a long wait, but it is worth it. (The restaurant is fairly small and intimate) The specials are
always very good and Catherine's Savory Cheesecake appetizer is fantastic.  This place is always busy, even "off season" as
they have a big local following. Great food, reasonable prices, good wine list, and good service; you just cannot beat the place.
I usually am sailing into Solomons and staying at Zahnisers Marina. the CD Café is a short walk from the marina.

We have been coming here for several years and we are NEVER disappointed. The food is fantastic and
the desserts are simply divine. Expect to wait for a table at prime dining time, but they have a fun little
wine bar so it's not a problem.

Small place, but the food is consistently great. Always different specials. If you don't mind the wait (and
there is a great martini bar next door now to do so), this is the place to eat in Solomons for exceptional
food at a good price. May not have the view that the Lighthouse or Dry Dock has, but the food is worth
the lack of view.

All the food at CD is good. It is of high quality and not the ordinary. You would never be embarrassed
taking a client or a friend to lunch or dinner. I am partial to their pasta dishes. Yes it is small, and does
not take reservations, and perhaps a bit loud, but all and all we are lucky to have the CD Café.

We have had our boat in most of the harbors in MD waters, and elsewhere on the Bay. Solomons has just
as many, if not more great places to eat than Annapolis. You can tell from the crowds that it is popular -
but it is worth the wait. Cd's is just like one of those little spots in Adams Morgan - very good sauces -
and both the meat and seafood dishes are well prepared. Once you sit down, the wait staff does a fine
job, and you will be pleased with their speed.  The menu has everything from $10 items on up, so every
budget is served. Short, but nice wine list. The desserts are the final fabulous touch, with things like
espresso cheesecake, and traditional key lime pie. You just cannot go wrong at CD's.
( oh, they have a great bar area in the back)

I had heard from several people how good the food was here. So, when my parents and their friends
came to visit, I took them to the CD café. Even though the five of us were seated at a table for four and
next the door that opened every five minutes, it was worth it. The food was excellent. By far the best
food I have since moving from DC a year ago. Besides the taste, the portions were the perfect size and
there was something that everyone could like. My mother raved about the salmon the whole meal. She
said it was the best she ever had. (And she orders it everywhere we go) My favorite was the dessert, a
pistachio creme brulee. It was huge and delicious. This is the kind of place that I have always wanted to
open.

I was first brought to the CD café on a date. He thought I would enjoy the artsy atmosphere and he was
right. Even though the date is over, my love for this small gourmet delight still calls me back! Over time
the café has been redecorated, but the food is still as delicious as ever. I have never had a meal that I
didn't like. The wait staff is helpful and friendly and I like that reservations are not accepted. If they were,
I'd still be waiting to get a table, I'm sure, because everyone else within a 50 mile radius would have
taken notice of this culinary adventurous café by now.

Everybody around here recommends the C.D. Café. People crowd into the bright, cozy café for the rich
assortment of things like savory cheesecake, a walnut crust filled with herbed cheeses, or the breast of
chicken, topped with pecans, apples, and an apple schnapps glaze, or the Cajun shepherd's pie.
Lunchtime salads are creative and tasty. Try the curried chicken salad or the Salad Moresque that
combines romaine, walnuts, fruit, and blue cheese. Brunch is served on Sundays. Behind the café, the
owners have opened the Next Door Lounge, a cool, laid-back place to get light fare, appetizers, and
drinks. It's open 4:30 to 11pm Tuesday to Friday and 2:30 to 11pm Saturday and Sunday.  -
